THE FOUNDER

I have worked in the IT industry since 2005 after graduating from Leeds Metropolitan University with a First Class honours in Computer Science. I gained a strong interest in fitness and nutrition after leaving university and eventually decided to work towards becoming a qualified Level 3 Personal Trainer (see qualification here) a number of years later in order to help fuel my interests further.

I love spending time with my daughter, family and friends, playing and watching a wide variety of sports, travelling, live music, and food!

The idea for MY PERSONAL TRAINER was born off of the back of listening to friends and family and through reading various posts and forums on the internet, and realising how misinformed people are around fitness and nutrition. People have been mislead and misguided through fad diets, and crazy workout plans that promise to give you chiseled abs and a rear like Beyonce.

I really wanted to help re-educate and guide normal people, living normal lives the basics of fitness and nutrition to help them achieve a body that they are proud of. I have designed, developed, released, and promoted the MY PERSONAL TRAINER app alone and I truly believe that it can make a difference to peoples lives, who have struggled in the past to get the results that they crave.

Credits

How do I buy new credits?

When logged in to the app, click on the hamburger menu in the top left
Click the black “Buy Credits” button
Click on the number of credits that you wish to buy – the more credits you buy the less each credit costs you!
Complete the purchase as you would normally for your iOS and Android device

What is one credit worth?

What can I get with one credit?

One credit will allow you to download one meal or one workout plan that you haven’t previously downloaded.

If you have previously downloaded a meal or workout plan then you can download it again without using any credits.

Without any credits you can still check-in and use all the functionality but in order to download new meal and workout plans that have been generated it will cost you one credit per meal/workout plan

What is a Physical Readiness Questionnaire (PARQ)?

We ask you to fill review the Physical Readiness Questionnaire (PARQ) before every check-in to ensure that you are fit enough and well enough to partake in a physical exercise programme. We still always suggest that you consult a GP or specialist before completing any of our exercise plans, and to consult a professional dietician when following the meal plan guides.

I have no idea what values to input during check-in!

When you check-in by clicking the black “CHECK-IN” button on the landing screen in app, you are taken to a check-in wizard. Once you have passed the PARQ, for each step in the check-in process there is a black “See your Personal Trainers Advice!” button if opens a dynamic intelligent guide to help you check-in. The guide updates dynamically based on the existing input values and previous check-in data to help guide you towards reaching your fitness goals!

How often should I check-in?

It is recommended that you check-in on the same day every 7 days, for example: if you first checked in at 7am on a Saturday morning, try to check-in again on the following Saturday morning for consistency. If you don’t manage to check-in on exactly the same day/time then don’t panic the world isn’t going to fall down around your ears and you are still going to hit those goal of yours, but try next week to get back to the original day and time – consistency and getting back on the wagon as soon as you can if you fall off is key!

How do I accurately measure my body fat percentage?

In order for MY PERSONAL TRAINER to generate highly accurate meal plans, you need to accurately measure your body fat percentage. Seriously consider purchasing a set of these body fat callipers.

Meals

What do I do with the Pre-Workout meal if I am not doing any resistance training that day?

1. If today is a resistance workout day, then aim to have this meal just before the session, and the same goes for if you are doing a cardio based session.

2. If today is a complete rest day, then eat this meal as a snack at some point during the day.

Do I eat the same food for lunch and dinner everyday, and how long for?!

A new meal plan is created for you every time you check-in and our recommendation is that you do so every 7 days.

Each what the meal plan says everyday for the 7 days until your check-in again. On the outset it looks like you eat the same food everyday, but this isn’t true.

To add flexibility to the meal plan there is an alternative column which gives you the option to swap out that food for an “alternative” (ensure you stick to the food measurement).

Also, for lunch and dinner you are provided with an “allowance” of calories for a sauce, condiment or herb to be added to your meal.

What does the target section mean on the meal plan?

The MY PERSONAL TRAINER app based on your gender, weight and body fat percentage calculated a target number of calories, protein, fat, and carbohydrate intake based on your goal. A number of complex algorithms were then run to try and create a meal plan to try and meet those target figures as close as possible. Please send an email to support@mypersonaltrainer.org.uk if you actual and target figures are wildly different.

My Account

Apple Sign In – Unable to access an existing account?

Do you already have an account with us and have now logged in with Apple Sign in and have been asked to create a new account?

You probably selected “Hide my email address” when using Apple Sign In which logs you into the app with a unique email address, something like this: XXXXX@privaterelay.appleid.com. When we send you an email we send it to this email address and Apple forwards the email to your actual email address. The problem is, that if you already had an account with us using your actual email address we are unable to match your original account to this new “Apple” email address. If you don’t care about your old account (i.e. you haven’t checked-in), then just create a new account, otherwise follow these instructions:

1.Quit the app
2.Follow these steps to stop hiding the email address from the MY PERSONAL TRAINER app: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT210426
3.Login to the app using Apple Sign In and untick the hide email address option

Workouts

I do not have access to any gym equipment!

No problem! When you check-in uncheck the “Do you have access to a gym”.

The workout plan created for you will only include bodyweight exercises that you can complete anywhere!

When will I get a new workout routine?

You will get a new workout routine every 6 weeks, assuming you check-in once a week (suggested frequency).
